Singapore International Science Camp 2016

Once again 10 Upper Secondary Sarjanians and two teachers participated in the Illustrious Singapore International Science camp organized by National University of Singapore from 30 May until 3 June.

The aim of the science camp was to give the students a flavor of Singapore and the campus life of NUS. The camp was designed to stir curiosity and inculcate a life-long fascination for science into the students through inspiring lectures by university professors, creative workshops, and visit to research labs at NUS.

Some of the highlights of the camp included Surgical Simulation workshop, chemistry of cosmetics, virtual reality workshop, 3D printing, visit to NEWater plant, DNA analysis workshop and visit to self-driving vehicle lab where the students got a chance to engage in hands-on activity to understand the application of science. The camp also included some challenging competitions like the amazing race where our students Soon De Yang and Qurratul Ain Binti Haji Zulkifli won the first place, Shereefa Hasnah (10E) won the second place and Wong Yik Kang won the third place. Beyond the academic element, it was undoubtedly a rare opportunity for our students to expand their international exposure.
