KG 1 Bears Entry Point

It’s another cold day in the Arctic but this time K1 polar bears heat up the place with fun and much anticipation. As they embark on the Bears Unit, students of K1 wore white clothes and pretended to be polar bears. Knowing where the real ones live, a pool of ice was prepared for the children to play with as a replica of the bears’ cold habitat.

Wearing gloves and bonnets, they were all set to face the cold outside. In the classroom, there was even “snow”.

The children were able to discuss its properties in terms of color, texture, and temperature. Some even attempted to mould snow balls! A “camp fire” was lit for toasting marshmallows with friends. A mattress, a pillow, and a blanket were all they needed for the camping so when everyone had finished their smores, everyone retired to bed. The children felt very grown up and independent during their first camping experience.
