2 BIG WINS for SMSS in National Choir Competition

2nd place for both Primary section and Secondary section in the recently concluded National Choir Competition!

The interpretation of the song ‘Cabuk – Cabuk Bertali Rambai’ in the Final Battle of the National Choir Competition marked another excellent achievement for the Primary section choir that has proven many victorious moments over the years. Seri Mulia Sarjana Primary Choir finished 2nd in the said competition organised by the Co – Curriculum Department, Ministry of Education held last 4th May 2017 at Dewan Raya, Radio Television Brunei (RTB), Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. The said event was held in conjunction with the 33rd National Day Celebration.

The 19 vocally gifted Sarjanians, along with the Music Teachers, headed by Teacher Garth Borrero, worked very hard in preparing for the completion. For the choir members, this win is not just a privilege and a pride but a manifestation of teamwork, a unique Sarjanian value.

While in the Secondary section, our “Big 6” students, namely Sufi Iman Bin Omar, Yusman Asyraaf Bin Abdullah Sani, Muhammad Nur Amir Zakwan Bin Bungso, Mary Angeline B. Espiritu, Jennel Nicole A. Villasera and Syaza Syahirah Binti Samsul achieved the Second Place award in the recently concluded BIG 6 Finals 2017 as organised by the Co-Curriculum Department of the Ministry of Education in conjunction with the 33rd National Day Celebration. The “Big 6” competition required the students to sing Acapella style (no music). It was challenging but our students rose to the challenge and did an excellent job.

In the final round, which took place last 4th May 2017 in Dewan Raya RTB in Bandar Seri Begawan, our students performed to their best and emerged as the 2nd Place winners. They were trained and supervised by Teacher Garth Borerro assisted by Teacher John Raymund Pajarillo.

Congratulations SMSS Primary and Secondary Choirs for a job well done!
