International Mandarin Educator Certification Examinations

Ling Yen Ting and Wong Toh Yieng took the “International Mandarin Educator Certification Examinations” and made the grade

They participated in the 18-day Overseas Chinese Teacher Training Program in China Xia Men Hua Qiao University (中国厦门市华侨大学). The teachers successfully completed this program for pedagogical mastery in teaching Mandarin as professional Chinese language teachers.

Ling Yen Ting successfully achieved the Intermediate Level with scores of 606 points in “Knowledge and Competence of Chinese Language Examination” and 727 points in “Chinese Teaching and Chinese Culture Examination”. She also obtained 729 points in “Chinese Language Teaching Practice Examination”.

Wong Toh Yieng achieved 575 points in the Elementary Level for “Knowledge and Competence of Chinese Language Examination” and another 790 points in “Chinese Teaching and Chinese Culture Examination”. She also passed the “Chinese Language Teaching Practice Examination” with 712 points.

The Chinese teacher training program consisted of several informative and useful topics which enhanced their quality of teaching. It included effective teaching skills, proactive classroom management, theory and practice in Mandarin vocabulary and grammar, pedagogy of reading and writing, appreciation of modern Chinese prose and poetry, Chinese phonetics teaching, child psychology, history of China, and some core knowledge of Chinese culture.
