SMSS Teachers Attend Symposium on Innovative Teaching and Learning

Two days of inspiring prominent international and National keynote speakers, forum sessions and practical workshops stimulated and empowered three Seri Mulia Sarjana teachers, Masjiah Binti Haji Metussin, Siti Waznah Binti Abdul Latif and Jeffrey Gallardo Donguines to adopt innovative strategies in designing creative activities in the digital age.

These hands – on sessions happened during the 3rd International Symposium on Innovative Teaching and Learning (ISITL) held on 22 – 23 August 2017 at The Orchid Garden Hotel, Brunei Darussalam. The said symposium, hosted by Politeknik Brunei through the Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) aimed to encourage the study and implementation of mobile applications in teaching and learning through the use mobile learning devices and applications; hence the theme “Mobile Learning and Innovation in Technologies.

The Keynote speaker, Associate Professor Mark Pegrum of the University of Western Australia, underscored the need of the 21st Century teachers to be able to create innovative learners. He further emphasized on the challenge of the teachers not only to prepare students to become productive in this fast changing world but also to empower them through technology.

Believing that the use of technology effectively shapes the learning environment for today’s students, SMSS teachers look forward to attending the cascading sessions on Mobile Learning.
