Seri Mulia Sarjana School CHAMPION of BEES 2.0

Seri Mulia Sarjana School once again emerged as the CHAMPION of the Brunei Entrepreneurship Education Scheme (BEES) 2.0 competition held at Hua Manggis Ballroom Hall on 23rd November 2017.

The resilient team of five Year 9 students namely Francis Neil L. Linezo, Janelle Joyce A. Perez, Lianna May L. Cruz, Muhammad Haziq Safwan bin Sheran and Travis Gunnar P. Castro with their supervising teachers Rajesh VR and Rhoel C. Pacis felt the pressure to come up with an innovative product as SMSS was named champion of last year’s convention.

SMSS team,  bested other 6 finalists from 16 secondary schools in the country with their environmentally friendly product “Eco-Bin.” Their product is a trash bin with integrated can crusher with specially designed slots to accept papers and plastics. It is designed to change people’s waste habit and to generate money from recyclable materials. They went home with a trophy, certificates and $1000 cash prize. One of the team advisers, T. Rhoel was also named as the Most Supportive Teacher of the convention taking home a trophy, certificate and $50 cash prize.

This year’s BEES 2.0 convention focuses on Entrepreneurial Mindset on Innovation, which was jointly organised by the Ministry of Education, Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sendiran Berhad (BSP) and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). The program aims to inculcate interdisciplinary knowledge leading to more innovative products and services and to instill, develop and stimulate enterprising attitudes and skills among students in secondary schools.
