Written by

Thirty one teachers from the primary and secondary sections attended 21st Century Teaching and Learning Workshop held in SHBIE, UBD on the 15th ,17th ,22nd of June and 5th of July.

Facilitators Dr Josage Sudharman Henry Quintus Perera and Dr Masitah Binti Shahrill educated the teachers on the six dimensions of the 21st century skills including collaboration, knowledge construction, self-regulation, real-world problem – solving and innovation, use of ICT for learning and skilled communication.

The workshop is an initiative from the school director, Ms Sophia Lim, who saw the need to equip the teaching staff with relevant new skills to cater for the current and future generation of 21st century learners. Teachers had the opportunity to apply the principles in the planning and design of their lesson learning activities in their actual classrooms. The workshop was an eye opener, especially for those who has been in the teaching line for many years as it encourages a paradigm shift in how lessons should be prepared and presented to the new generation of students, in support of the Ministry of Education SPN21 vision in providing a holistic education for all children.
