On 13th April 2016, the Atomos Science club members of our school, together with their teachers Dhanya Ramachandran and Kezhakkail Sowmiya, took part in a live Science show by Dr. Graham Walker, a well known Australian Science showoffs master.
The Debate Club and the Press Club had an unusual educational visit to the flourishing organic honey bee farm, 'Madu Lebah Kelulut Qana'ah 5' in Kg.Tungku. Mr.Malik Siajuan, the owner of the farm and an entrepreneur himself, gave an informative briefing about the process of honey making.
A total number of 165 Upper secondary students, mostly from Year 9F, 10A & 11A, participated in an educational tour on the Brunei River. The tour was organized by the students of Year 11-A who are taking Travel & Tourism subject, accompanied by supervising teachers; Melany Santos-Franco, Irish Lumakin Diosomito and Dexter Junsay.
Bazilah Batrisyia Binti Md. Ja'afar of Year 6A placed 6th among the Top 10 Individual Prizes in the 16th Singapore Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Private Primary Schools 2016 organised by Hwa Chong Institution, Singapore.
Seri Mulia Sarjana School’s primary football team participated in the Football Tournament – Brunei Zone III organised by Co-Curriculum Education Department, Ministry of Education. Twelve schools under Zone III joined the tournament which was held at Sekolah Rendah DRHMJ Kiarong.
As part of their objective to increase public knowledge on healthy lifestyle and its benefits to health, a talk on ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ was conducted by the School Health Services, Ministry of Health in the Primary campus, which was attended by Year 6F and 6G. It was held on 7th April 2016 with its speaker, Ak Md Zulfikri Bin Pengiran Haji Zulkifly.
Four students from Seri Mulia Sarjana School recently took part in the 12th ISB’s Borneo Global Issues Conference, a four-day conference completely organised by ISB.
Borneo Global Issues Conference is a Model United Nations where students can gain knowledge about the struggles of the world, how to overcome those problems and resolutions to make those problems easier to overcome.
3 cohorts of professional development were held during the first term break for SMSS teachers. The first was the BTS (Brunei Teachers Standards) training held for all teachers, facilitated by Teacher Putri M. Simanjuntak and Teacher K. Sowmiya. This professional development course provided a golden opportunity for teachers to reflect on their teaching practices and to upgrade their proficiency in constructive teaching.
