Underscoring that learning is a process, the year 2 IPC mentors recently designed the
MLJ lesson on the function of the tongue through a very concrete and effective strategy
which is Research and Recording – Sensory Test Experiment.

As young as 7 years old, the students had a grasp of the biology of taste, and experienced
and demonstrated an understanding of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy through a tasting of
food they brought from home. With keen observation and hands-on learning, the kids
were able to achieve a successful result in their experiment and that is to describe the
different tastes of food.

Completing a worksheet on the lesson and engaging themselves in the activity made the
learning process flawless and meaningful.
Way to go, Year 2!
