The aspiring future Brunei money designers composed of Year 4 and Year 5 students could not contain their happiness as they set foot in one of the country’s state of the art buildings, The Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam, during their field trips on three (3) separate dates, 12th, 13th and 26th February 2019.
To foster financial awareness among the students and to increase their understanding regarding financial system in the country, Sarjanians explored money matters through the tour to the museum. Glancing at the exhibits in the gallery, the students were engaged in an in-depth information on the history and development of Brunei currency. Such learning experience has enticed the kids’ curiosity on the artistic design and historical background of each and every item in the gallery. Such exposure augmented the lessons learnt in the classrooms.
The mood was high when the hosts engaged the students in educational games such as ‘Calculating Brunei Currency’, ‘Needs vs Wants’ and ‘Treasure Hunt’. Meanwhile, the Sarjanians’ artistic skills were challenged when they were given the chance to conceptualize their own design of Brunei currency and coins and their own version of money bank made of boxes. No amount of words could express the students’ satisfaction upon completion of their ‘Works of Art’.
As the trip drew to an end, the students were gathered at the entrance of the gallery for a group photo taking. Looking exhausted, the students still managed to wear their smiles of satisfaction. The sweet smiles that sealed with the best caption, “Learning and fun make a great combination.”
