SMSS Secondary students head back to school amid safety protocols

Cheerful and excited youngsters comprised of 156 students from Year 8 and 139 students from 10 Express and Year 11 enthusiastically returned to SMSS Secondary section during the first phase of school re-opening on Tuesday, 2nd June 2020. A strict and organised safety protocol is implemented following the directives given by the Ministry of Health. An extensive sanitation of the school was conducted wherein desks and chairs in classrooms and waiting areas were re-arranged and labelled to maintain social distancing between students and teachers.

After they were dropped-off by their parents in the designated areas, the students lined up and waited to get their temperature checked and hands sanitised one by one.  Their respective class teachers reinforced messages about social distancing and hand-washing. All school staff and students  are required to wear masks in school and abide by personal hygiene measures.

As schools will resume classes in stages, students from Year 7, 9 and 10 continue with their home-based learning or online lessons on which their regular time-table is followed and classes are conducted via MS Teams and Zoom.
